This transfer course has two major components:
Computer Concepts: learned using interactive computer activities and text review
- fundamentals of computers, particularly personal computer hardware and software
- introduction to computer systems, software systems and management information techniques
- World Wide Web as a source for the latest information and an integrated learning tool
- why computers are essential components in the business world and society in general
- focus on the computer as a valuable productivity tool
- the personal computer's position as the backbone of the computer industry both
as a stand-alone system and a networked device
- strategies for purchasing, installing, and maintaining a personal computer system
- planning a career in the computer field
Applications: skills developed using computer simulation activities, step by step text
interaction and the completion of assigned labs
- Microsoft Office 2007 suite including Word (word processing), Excel (electronic spreadsheets), Access (database) and PowerPoint (presentation).
